This is an article on specific SEO techniques for you to use to achieve high-ranking, first page search results in the search engines. I have written other articles on SEO and this is just one of those articles. Now let's get right into business.
- Utilize Meta Tags
- Create Compelling and Valuable Content
- Update Your Posts Regularly
- Create a Good 404 page
- Ensure Grammatically Correct Posts
- Use Suitable Anchor Text
This involves putting keywords in the meta-tag box that are relevant to your article. It is important that the keywords are related to your content and should be popular keywords that people use when searching for what your post is about. It helps to achieve a high rank in organic search results in the search engines. The keywords could be one word or phrases but try as much as possible to make them short if you are using phrases, preferably not more than three-word phrases at most.
This is probably the most important part of SEO strategies. Now if you do all of the other things right and the visitor gets to your site and discovers articles that are best crap, what do you think is going to happen? He will not come back again! But if he learns something wonderful, it gets valuable information on how to solve a particular problem, he is going to advertise for you for free. Word of mouth advertising, free of charge! Now imagine what that is going to do to your business. Imagine the traffic it's going to bring to your site. The higher the value you create in your post, the more the traffic you get.
If you want to know if you have created valuable content, put yourself in the customer's shoes and ask yourself, 'If I were a customer, would I learn something really useful from what I have written here? Is it something I would recommend to my friends to check out? '.
Updating your post is as important as writing valuable posts. Why? If you get people to your page through useful posts and then they are excited. They come back again next time and they still see the same old posts they have read, why should they keep coming back? By not putting up new content, you are indirectly telling your visitors you are bereft of new ideas, that you have nothing new to offer, that you have stopped learning. I do not have to tell you what will happen to your site and your business when people start having such impression about you. So in other words: it's not enough to create a good first impression; you have to maintain a good reputation to keep your readers interested in you.
This is the page that appears when a visitor clicks on a link that is broken or that is not working on your site. A good 404 page redirects the visitor back to your home page. It could also direct the user to a related post on your site. The purpose of this is to give your visitor the best experience ever. You do not want to create the impression of someone who is not serious or about their business. Rather you want to give your site (and by extension your business) a professional touch. Google has some 404 widget you can install on your 404 page to give it several useful features. You can also check Google Webmaster tools to find the causes of URLs causing 'not found' errors.
After completing your write-up, check it for any grammatical error. Start right from the beginning to the end. Do not just publish your posts like that. The way you write says a lot about you. A well-written article makes you look like a professional, making people take you seriously. Use capital letters at the start of every sentence and full-stop at the end. Make sure your spellings are correct. If you are not sure, check your dictionary. Use the right punctuation marks at the right spots when necessary eg commas, semi-colon, question mark, quotation marks, exclamation mark, etc.
An anchor text is a word in form of a link in your post that a visitor to your site can click on and which will direct it to another page for more information on a particular topic. It is important you use an appropriate anchor text ie the visitor and the search engine should be able to know in advance what the page is about. The anchor text is placed within the anchor tag.
